Silicon Valley Roller Girls had one of those years that reminded us what a roller coaster of emotional Roller Derby can be. At times: Celebration and Defeat, Excitement and Anger, Laughter and Tears (sometimes all of the above, all at the same time), but through it all we have grown stronger – as individuals, as a team and as a league.

There’s an old saying that “it matters not if you win or lose, but how you play the game”, and this could not be more true than it is for SVRG this year. No matter what happened we never gave up. Through our wins and loses we continued to show up to practice, continued to work on our own skills, continue to help each other, and we did it all with the team and the bigger picture in mind. We took falls for each other, hits from each other, and gave hi-fives and hugs when it was all said and done; and because of this our league has become unstoppable.

If there’s one thing I know about this league and its members, it’s that there isn’t anyone who wouldn’t give their all for the league. We will continue to push forward, we will continue to strive for perfection and when we get there, we will get there together.

Very few things in life are entirely the work of just one person, you all (yes you our fans) have contributed independently to SVRG for the greater good and I couldn’t possibly end the year without saying “thank you” – Thank you!

Thank you for supporting SVRG!
