Teams and Officials
The Dot.Kamikazes are the WFTDA travel team, representing SVRG in competition for regional and national rankings. In June 2010, SVRG was accepted as WFTDA members and the Dot.Kamikazes are still actively compete for WFTDA rankings in the Western Region.
Each year, the Dot.Kamikazes travel to compete in tournaments and games against other WFTDA teams. They have traveled to multiple states and have had the opportunity to compete against teams from as far away as Washington, D.C. and Australia. You can catch them at home games, competing in sanctioned games against both local and out-of-state teams.
Killabytes & Hardrivers
Formed in 2009, the Killabytes are the Silicon Valley Roller Girls' B-Level non-WFTDA sanctioned travel team. The Killabytes compete against teams locally in California, as well as other non-WFTDA sanctioned games with teams around the United States.
In 2011, SVRG launched a C-Level team, The Hard Drivers featuring recent bootcamp graduates, recent intraleague transfers and SVRG SubPool Skaters. This team primarily bouts during exhibition matches and occasionally plays intraleague Bouts.
Like all other sports, officials are required to run the game and keep it fair. The officials are comprised of both skating (referees) and non-skating officials (NSO’s for short). The referees are further categorized as head, jammer, outside pack, and inside pack referees. The NSO positions include head NSO, jam timer, penalty tracker, penalty box timer, penalty box manager, inside whiteboard, outside whiteboard, scorekeeper, lineup tracker, and wrangler.
SVRG loves our officials, as they are not only crucial to hosting home bouts, but we rely on them to help us during scrimmages at practice and to answer all our crazy questions about rules.
We are always on the lookout for more skating and non-skating officials- no experience necessary, we will train you! If interested in joining our zebra crew, write to email@example.com.
