SVRG's Dot.Kamikazes rock their first day at The Big One, advance to semifinals
The Silicon Valley Roller Girls' Dot.Kamikazes came out of their pool 2-1 after a day full o' derby at The Big One tournament in Paso Robles, CA, today. Pool play today involved 20-minute bouts against each team in the pool.
Despite their roster being decimated by injuries and absences, the Dot.Kamikazes made a very strong showing their first day out, showing that they have a depth of talent. In their first round of pool play, SVRG handily defeated Derby Revolution of Bakersfield, 98-10. In the second round, SVRG narrowly lost to last year's champions, the San Diego Derby Dolls' Wildfires, 43-31. In their final bout of the evening, SVRG defeated the Santa Cruz Boardwalk Bombshells 73-18, marking the third time SVRG has taken down Santa Cruz in tournament play this year. SVRG will go into the semifinals tomorrow seeded second in their pool behind San Diego. In the other pool, the Bay Area Derby Girls came out on top, with Humboldt Roller Derby securing second place. Bouts tomorrow will be a full 60 minutes. Be prepared for some total derby awesomeness!
