The Silicon Valley Roller Girls' Dot.Kamikazes came out of their pool 2-1 after a day full o' derby at The Big One tournament in Paso Robles, CA, today. Pool play today involved 20-minute bouts against each team in the pool.
Despite their roster being decimated by injuries and absences, the Dot.Kamikazes made a very strong showing their first day out, showing that they have a depth of talent. In their first round of pool play, SVRG handily defeated Derby Revolution of Bakersfield, 98-10. In the second round, SVRG narrowly lost to last year's champions, the San Diego Derby Dolls' Wildfires, 43-31. In their final bout of the evening, SVRG defeated the Santa Cruz Boardwalk Bombshells 73-18, marking the third time SVRG has taken down Santa Cruz in tournament play this year. We will also be logging the frequent flyer miles next season, as we will be traveling from Arizona to Washington to Colorado for various bouts. But, three of our four home bouts this year are doubleheaders, so that's almost twice the derby! We also promise some outdoor bouts at Roosevelt Rink (TBA). Below, our home bouts are in boldface:
March 6: Dot.Kamikazes vs. Dockyard Derby Dames (Tacoma, WA) AND
KillaBytes vs. San Diego Hard Corps (doubleheader @ San Jose Skate)
March 27-28: Dot.Kamikazes compete in The Dustbowl Tournament @ Bakersfield, CA

Red Red was particularly exciting this year because we got to send a lot of our new blood for some scrimmage experience. In addition to SVRG vets Steffen Razor (Team Orange) and MisTits (Dark Green), five of our interns got their first taste of bouting: Bozo Disposo (Dark Blue), Cannonball Iztik (Black), Absolutely Scabulous (Red), Blanca Basura Barbie (Pink) and Catherine Beata Bones (Light Green). The ladies had a wonderful time, ... Read More »
