We're BAAAAACK - SVRG Updates
The Silicon Valley Roller Girls' campaign on FundRazr for a new home has officially closed. We would like to thank all of our donors for being so generous! The funds raised have enabled us to purchase our own SportCourt flooring. Our own flooring means that there are now more locations that we could potentially skate in because we now have a floor that we can put down that is safe to skate on. If you missed the opportunity to make a donation through our FundRazr campaign, you can still donate to SVRG through paypal at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are still saving to ensure we have sufficient funds to pay for deposits, permits, and repairs. We have not yet found our permanent new home, but we have reviewed over 40 potential spaces in the last few months. If you know of a building for lease with a 75' x 110' flat span and no support beams, please forward the leads to email@example.com.
The SVRG teams have just resumed practice after taking a summer break during the middle of June. We are currently practicing at Silvercreek Sportsplex (http://www.gotoplex.com/) and the hockey rink at Roosevelt Park (http://sanjoseca.gov/Facilities/Facility/Details/Roosevelt-Park-122). We are exceptionally grateful to these two great venues for working with us and helping us thrive! Coming up on Thursday July 17th is our first black and white open scrimmage at Roosevelt Community Center. The event will run from 6:30-8:30pm, with portions of it being co-ed (https://www.facebook.com/events/663248070429689/ ). Unfortunately the July 19th bout has been cancelled since we were unable to find a venue for the bout. Our next home double header will be on Sunday August 24th (rescheduled from August 23rd). At 4pm SVRG’s Junior Derby team, Derby 2.0 will take the rink against the Hollister Junior Derby Girls. At 6pm all of your favorite SVRG players will hit the floor in a SVRG Black vs. SVRG White battle. Then, on Saturday September 20th, the KillaBytes will headline a double header, taking on North Coast Roller Derby from Crescent City, CA. at 5pm. Your SVRG Dot.Kamikazes will start day at 3pm vs TBD. The remaining home bouts for the season will be held at Roosevelt Park, 901 E. Santa Clara Street, San Jose, CA.
